'The Sidekick' Trailer: Superhero Short Features the Other Guys in Tights

Being Robin has its perks, chief among them the sweet hang time with Batman, but for the most part fighting crime as a superhero sidekick isn't all it's cracked up to be.

In "The Sidekick," a superhero short starring Rob Benedict (who also wrote the film), Ron Livingston, Lizzy Caplan, Josh Meyers, Ian Barinholtz, and others, a slew of number twos in tights lament their chosen line of work while also setting out to be the best they can be. But in the case of Benedict's Max McCabe, an unemployed and glaringly inept sidekick, his best may not be good enough. (continue reading at moviefone.com)

Lizzy Caplan, Jordan Peele And Rob Benedict Head To Comic-Con For The Sidekick Panel

Think being a sidekick is easy? Try being an unemployed one.

Michael J. Weithorn and Rob Benedict's new short The Sidekick explores such a scenario through the story of 40-year-old career sidekick, Max McCabe - played by actor and writer Rob Benedict - who is fired by his boss and left to try to figure out how to break back into the fast-paced world of superhero-dom. In addition to Benedict, the cast includes Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Josh Meyers, Richard Speight Jr. and Jordan Peele. All of the above mentioned people will be in attendance for The Sidekick Comic-Con panel that's set for later this month. (continue reading at televisionblend.com)

Rob Benedict’s The Sidekick Heads to Comic Con, Hopes for a Sidekick-y Future

“Supernatural’s” Rob Benedict stars and co-wrote “The Sidekick”, about a 40-year old superhero, well, sidekick who gets fired from his position

“Supernatural’s” Rob Benedict stars and co-wrote “The Sidekick”, about a 40-year old superhero, well, sidekick who gets fired from his position for, one assumes, incompetence (and just generally being too old and slow, I guess) and now has to find a real job in the real world. Or something to that effect. Luckily for him, Lizzy Caplan is there to lend a helping hand. (continue reading on beyondhollywood.com)

    Finding the Sidekick Within

I started thinking about a questionable profession—the Superhero sidekick. And I began applying it as an allegory for what I was going through. What happens to Robin at 40? Batman at least can age gracefully behind the suit, plus he's you know, Batman. But Robin, barely has a mask to hide behind -- and his most impressive power is the ability to tell Batman to "look out"! The same could be said for the Green Hornet's sidekick, Kato. Super powers: agility, stealth. What happens when he starts to lose his step? Same with the others -- Bucky (Captain America), Jimmy Olsen (Superman), Sancho Panza (Don Quixote) ... where do good Sidekicks go to retire? (continue reading on huffingtonpost.com)

San Diego Comic-Con 2013: 9 Under the Radar Panels to Love

If you want to skip the long lines and still see some cool panels at the biggest comic convention around, check out some of these under the radar gems.

The Sidekick is a short film about what happens when a superhero’s trusty sidekick gets a little lazy...and gets fired. Now pushing 40, Max McCabe finds himself just a regular guy instead of a sidekick to Ron Livingston's Captain Wonder. Will he be able to rejoin the rest of society without a cape and tights? The neat thing about this panel is that it also functions as the world premiere of the short, meaning you get to become the annoying person who tells all your friends you saw it first. Comic-Con expands as proving ground for new shows

Nine years ago, the inaugural episode of "Lost" captured Comic-Con attendees' imaginations when it first premiered at the fan-driven extravaganza, and the surreal series about plane crash survivors went on to become a cultural phenomenon. This year, more than 10 new shows are angling to land similar success when they touch down in San Diego this week (continue reading on news.yahoo.com)

Comic-Con 2013 to Premiere Superhero Short Film Starring Lizzy Caplan and Ron Livingston

Although San Diego Comic-Con is traditionally known for its massive panels celebrating the most-anticipated films and most-popular TV shows in the geek world, it also plays host to countless other projects, many of which often seem to get lost. Hopefully, that won’t happen to ‘The Sidekick,’ a new superhero-themed short film that will premiere at Comic-Con 2013 and has some pretty big ambitions. (continuing reading on screencrush.com)

This Week In Trailers: Citizen Koch, FOUR, The Sidekick, Wasteland, Dealin’ With Idiots, Les Invisibles

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form

A featurette that’s playing this weekend at the Con stars a gaggle of comedic actors, the trailer supposes one of the most likely areas for an easy joke: What do the lives of sidekicks look like? From director Michael J. Weithorn we are given some insight into this imagined supposition and the results look pretty good. (continue reading on slashfilm.com)

The panel will also feature stars Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Josh Meyers, Richard Speight Jr., Jordan Peele and Jason Ritter, along with director Michael J. Weithorn and cinematographer Steve Lubensky (continue reading on huffingtonpost.com).
